Tight security at Chinnaswamy stadium as RCB vs CSK match draws massive crowd
Fans began arriving near the stadium hours before the match, creating heavy footfall in and around the venue. Police have deployed tight security arrangements, thoroughly screening every individual before allowing entry. Officials confirmed that a large number of personnel have been stationed to manage the crowd and prevent any untoward incidents.
Amid the heightened vigil, police detained eight individuals, including four from Jharkhand, who were found moving suspiciously near the stadium premises. Authorities are currently verifying their identity documents and match tickets. The move comes in the wake of recent incidents involving thefts during IPL matches.
Seemanth Kumar Singh issued a stern warning against pickpocketing and theft, stating that strict action would be taken against anyone found involved in such activities. His statement follows a recent case where a gang was caught stealing mobile phones during a previous IPL match.
On March 28, during the opening match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and RCB, a group of minors allegedly stole as many as 72 mobile phones from unsuspecting spectators. Police later arrested 13 accused, including nine juveniles, who were reportedly part of a gang from Jharkhand. The gang members had blended in with fans by wearing RCB jerseys and carried out thefts across entry gates, galleries, and nearby metro stations.

In view of such incidents, security has been further tightened for today’s high-voltage encounter. Around 2,300 police personnel have been deployed in and around the stadium to maintain law and order. Barricades have been set up on key roads to regulate movement and prevent overcrowding.
Authorities have also made arrangements to ease transportation. Special bus services have been introduced by BMTC, and metro services have been extended until 2 am to facilitate smooth travel for fans. Parking facilities have been organised similar to previous matches.
Police have reiterated that only ticket holders will be allowed near the stadium and warned against purchasing tickets from unauthorised sources. Surveillance teams, including the CCB, are closely monitoring fake ticket sales and betting activities.
