Court stays ex-parte order in site ownership dispute involving Yash’s mother

Hassan: A court in Hassan has granted a temporary stay on the implementation of an ex-parte judgment in a property ownership dispute concerning a site purchased by Pushpa Arunkumar, mother of actor Yash.

The Fourth JMFC Court in Hassan had earlier delivered an ex-parte order on April 16, 2025, in connection with O.S. No. 672/2023, reportedly recognising ownership claims made by GPA holder Devaraju on behalf of Lakshmamma. However, the court has now temporarily stayed the execution of that order after Pushpa Arunkumar filed an interim application challenging the decision.

In her plea, Pushpa contended that the earlier order had been passed without considering her as a necessary party to the proceedings. She also sought condonation of delay in filing her appeal beyond the stipulated 90-day period following the court’s order. The court has accepted the delay petition and permitted her to be impleaded as a party in the case.

Further, the court has directed that the earlier order in O.S. No. 672/2023 shall not be enforced until the disposal of the present proceedings. It has also restrained the parties from alienating or altering the nature of the disputed schedule property until further orders. The matter has been posted for the next hearing on February 18.

Reacting to the development, Pushpa Arunkumar said that the dispute over the site had surfaced only in recent days and that the court’s stay order provides her an opportunity to present her side. “The court has granted us a chance to argue. We have always been confident that the property belongs to us. The land they are referring to is different,” she said.

The case has drawn attention due to Yash’s prominence in the Kannada film industry. Legal proceedings are expected to clarify the ownership claims in the coming hearings.
