‘Toxic’ Sets New Record: Overseas Distribution Rights Sold for ₹105 Crore
Bengaluru: Rocking Star Yash’s much-awaited pan-India film ‘Toxic’, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Geetu Mohandas, has created a massive global milestone even before its theatrical release.
The film, which has already generated enormous buzz across the country, is now making headlines for its record-breaking overseas distribution deal.
Recently, the distribution rights for the Telugu states – Andhra Pradesh and Telangana – were sold for a staggering ₹120 crore, setting the tone for the film’s extraordinary market potential.
Now, the movie has taken a giant leap in the international arena as well. Leading global film distribution company Phars Film has officially acquired the overseas theatrical rights of Toxic, further cementing its status as one of the biggest Indian releases of the year.
In what is being hailed as a historic deal, the overseas rights have been sold for a massive ₹105 crore advance. Trade analysts are calling it one of the biggest overseas distribution agreements in the history of Indian cinema.
Interestingly, this deal covers only the Indian language versions of the film – Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam. The English-language version of Toxic is not included in this agreement, which indicates even greater potential for additional revenue streams.
Speaking about the landmark acquisition, Ahmed Golchin, CEO of Phars Films, expressed immense confidence in the project. “With Toxic, we aim to present a story that transcends borders.
We strongly believe that the film’s narrative and scale will connect with audiences worldwide,” he said. His statement reflects the massive expectations surrounding the film, especially after the global success of Yash’s previous blockbuster KGF: Chapter 2.
The phenomenal performance of KGF 2 in international markets has played a major role in building confidence around Toxic. Except for China, Japan, and Nepal, the film is set to release in a record number of screens across the world.
Trade experts predict that Toxic could surpass several previous benchmarks and emerge as one of the highest-grossing Indian films overseas. Another remarkable aspect of this achievement is that the film has reached such dizzying heights of hype without even releasing its main teaser or trailer.
So far, only a character introduction glimpse of Yash has been unveiled, and even that alone has sparked tremendous excitement among fans. Industry insiders believe that once the official trailer is released, the craze around Toxic will multiply exponentially.
Produced by KVN Productions, Toxic is gearing up for a grand worldwide release on March 19. The film boasts an impressive star cast including Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, and Rukmini Vasanth in pivotal roles.
Backed by top-notch technicians and a powerful creative team, the movie promises to be a high-octane action drama with global appeal. Expectations are sky-high as this is Yash’s first major release after the earth-shattering success of KGF: Chapter 2.
Fans across the globe are eagerly waiting to witness whether Toxic will recreate similar box office magic. The film will face competition from other big releases like Dhurandhar 2, but given its unprecedented pre-release business, trade circles are confident about its massive opening.
With record-breaking deals, international hype, and a superstar at the helm, Toxic is all set to rewrite box office history. The countdown has officially begun.
