LPG cylinder price hiked by Rs 50 on Union Budget Day

LPG cylinder price: In a move just ahead of the Union Budget 2026 presentation, oil marketing companies (OMCs) have increased the prices of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders by approximately ₹49 to ₹50, effective February 1, 2026.

This marks the second consecutive hike this year, following a substantial increase of ₹111 in January. While commercial users face higher costs, domestic LPG cylinder prices for households (14.2 kg) remain unchanged, providing some relief to the general public.

Updated Commercial LPG Rates (19 kg):

The table below shows the revised prices across major metro cities:(City- New rate- Old rate- increase)

Delhi- ₹1,740.50 – ₹1,691.50 – ₹49.00

Mumbai – ₹1,692.00 – ₹1,642.50 – ₹49.50

Kolkata – ₹1,844.50 – ₹1,795.00 – ₹49.50

Chennai – ₹1,899.50 – ₹1,849.50 – ₹50.00

Sectoral Impact: The hike will directly impact operational costs for hotels, restaurants, and small eateries, which could potentially lead to a slight rise in menu prices. In just 32 days, commercial LPG prices have risen by a cumulative ₹160 across most cities.

The 14.2 kg domestic cylinder continues to retail at ₹853 in Delhi, with no price revision announced on Budget Day. Interestingly, on the previous Budget Day (February 1, 2025), commercial LPG prices saw a marginal reduction of ₹6.50, a trend that was not repeated this year.

In contrast to the LPG hike, Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices were reduced on the same day. In Delhi, ATF prices dropped to ₹91,393.39 per kilolitre, which may offer some breathing room for the aviation sector.
