Man kills parents and sister, buries bodies inside house in Vijayanagara district

Ballari: A gruesome triple murder has come to light in Kotturu town of Vijayanagara district, where a man allegedly killed his own father, mother and sister and buried their bodies inside the house. The incident has sent shockwaves across the region, with police intensifying the investigation to ascertain the motive behind the crime.
The accused has been identified as Akshay Kumar. According to police sources, the murders took place on January 27, when Akshay allegedly killed his father Bheemaraj, mother Jayalakshmi and sister Amrutha at their rented house in Kotturu. After committing the crime, the accused reportedly fled to Bengaluru in an attempt to evade suspicion.
In a shocking twist, Akshay later approached the Tilaknagar police station in Bengaluru to file a missing persons complaint, claiming that his parents and sister had disappeared. However, his behaviour and inconsistent statements during the complaint process reportedly raised suspicion among the police. Acting on their doubts, Tilaknagar police subjected him to questioning, during which he allegedly confessed to having murdered all three family members.
Police said the exact reason behind the murders is yet to be established. Investigators are probing possible family disputes, financial issues or personal reasons that may have led to the brutal act. The accused is currently being brought back to Kotturu from Bengaluru, where he will be subjected to further interrogation.
Once the accused is produced at the crime scene, police plan to conduct a detailed spot mahazar in his presence. The bodies, which are believed to have been buried inside the rented house, are expected to be exhumed as part of the investigation. Forensic experts will assist in collecting evidence to strengthen the case.
Soon after receiving information about the incident, Vijayanagara Superintendent of Police Jahnavi visited the spot and conducted an inspection. Senior police officials are closely monitoring the investigation, given the severity of the crime and the public outrage it has triggered.
Police sources revealed that Akshay Kumar is a native of Nayakanahatti village in Chitradurga district. He had been living with his family in Kotturu for several years in a rented house after his father moved there for work. The family was said to be leading a normal life, making the alleged crime all the more disturbing for neighbours and locals.
Residents of the area expressed shock and disbelief, stating that there were no visible signs of tension within the family. The case has once again highlighted the growing concern over domestic crimes and the need for early intervention in cases of family distress.
Further details are expected to emerge after the recovery of the bodies and completion of the spot inspection.
