Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Alleges Sonia Gandhi’s Connection to Shabarimala Gold Theft Accused

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has made serious allegations against Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, claiming that she has connections with the key accused in the Shabarimala gold theft case.

The two individuals named in the case are Unnikrishnan Potti, the prime accused, and a gold trader from Ballari, Govardhan. Vijayan’s statements have sparked a fresh political controversy.

While responding to media queries, the Chief Minister pointed out that Sonia Gandhi has appointments with prominent leaders but raised questions about how Unnikrishnan Potti managed to meet her.

“Former Chief Minister Karunakaran and Himanta Biswa Sarma could not secure appointments with Sonia Gandhi, but Potti, a key accused in a gold theft case, somehow did. How could this happen, considering the tight security around her?” Vijayan questioned.

He also shared a photo, claiming it showed Sonia Gandhi accepting gifts from Potti and Govardhan, fueling his accusations. Vijayan further criticized the Congress for questioning the state government’s handling of the Shabarimala gold scam investigation.

“The Congress and UDF leaders are accusing the government of mishandling the case, but they must answer how an accused individual like Potti got direct access to Sonia Gandhi,” he said.

The Shabarimala gold theft case has been a significant political issue in Kerala, with both the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) exchanging sharp remarks.

Congress leaders, on the other hand, have denied the allegations, stating that they are politically motivated and part of an attempt to deflect attention from the ongoing investigation.

The controversy continues to escalate, with both sides exchanging barbed comments, highlighting the growing political tensions in the state as the investigation progresses.
