Trump Offers ₹2.7 Lakh Incentive to Illegal Migrants for Voluntary Deportation Before Year-End

Washington : U.S. President Donald Trump has made a unique offer to illegal migrants in the country, urging them to leave voluntarily before the year ends.

The U.S. government is offering an incentive package worth around ₹2.7 lakh (approximately 3,500 USD) for illegal migrants to return to their home countries.

This offer comes as part of an effort to streamline immigration control and reduce the burden on U.S. border facilities. In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced a “mega Christmas offer” targeting undocumented immigrants.

The program encourages migrants to self-deport by signing up through the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) home application, which allows them to voluntarily return to their country of origin. Those who agree to this offer before the year’s end will be given financial assistance to cover travel expenses, along with an additional stipend of ₹2.7 lakh.

The DHS explained that this initiative is designed to expedite the deportation process while reducing the operational burden on U.S. immigration services. By participating in the voluntary self-deportation program, illegal migrants not only get financial support but also avoid the threat of detention or legal proceedings.

The program is being promoted as a fast, free, and simple way for migrants to resolve their situation. All migrants have to do is download the CBP Home application, fill out the necessary information, and the DHS will handle the rest, including arranging their travel back home.

However, the DHS has warned that illegal migrants who choose not to participate in this offer will face detention and deportation. The government has made it clear that these individuals will not be allowed to return to the U.S. in the future, adding a strict warning for those who choose to stay without complying with the voluntary deportation process.

Since the launch of this initiative, nearly 1.9 million illegal migrants have voluntarily left the U.S., with tens of thousands more expected to participate by the start of 2025.

The move has sparked controversy, with critics arguing that it could further strain the relationships between the U.S. and countries of origin, while supporters view it as a necessary step to curb illegal immigration.
