India and the United States have decided to keep negotiations active on a proposed bilateral trade pact following the conclusion of three days of discussions held in Washington. Officials from both sides described the talks as constructive, with a shared intent to move the agreement forward.

The Indian delegation, led by Darpan Jain, engaged in detailed discussions with the US team headed by Brendan Lynch. The meetings focused on shaping an interim framework while also advancing the broader bilateral trade agreement.

According to government sources, the discussions covered a wide range of areas including market access, customs procedures, digital trade, investment promotion and economic cooperation. While progress was made in several areas, some long standing concerns, particularly around agricultural protections, remained under discussion.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry stated that both countries held meaningful and forward looking exchanges during the talks. Officials emphasized that the dialogue was conducted in a positive atmosphere, allowing both sides to identify common ground on several key issues.

Earlier, India and the US had agreed on a framework for an interim trade arrangement aimed at ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes. This framework continues to guide ongoing negotiations and reflects the commitment of both nations to strengthen economic ties.

Despite some differences, both sides have agreed to remain engaged and maintain momentum in the coming rounds of discussions, signaling continued efforts to finalize the trade pact.
