Tamil Nadu Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin Faces Controversy Over Dance Video at Birthday Event
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, widely known for his controversial statements against Sanatan Dharma, is now embroiled in a fresh controversy following his birthday party.
A video from the celebration has gone viral, showing a young woman performing a provocative dance, with Minister S. Periyakaruppan applauding and appearing to enjoy the performance. The incident has triggered widespread outrage on social media.
The birthday party, described as grand, was organized with the participation of several district leaders and party functionaries. During the event, young women performed on stage, and according to reports, Minister Periyakaruppan invited the performers closer to him.
The group of dancers reportedly came down from the stage and performed near the minister, who was seen clapping and enjoying the act. Once the video surfaced online, public criticism was swift.
Many accused the minister and the DMK leadership of failing to maintain decorum, highlighting that such behavior is unbecoming of public officials. The BJP has seized the opportunity to attack Udhayanidhi Stalin, Minister Periyakaruppan, and the DMK, questioning the moral standards of party leaders in Tamil Nadu.
The BJP’s criticism emphasized that Tamil Nadu women deserve respect from government leaders, and accused the DMK of encouraging inappropriate behavior in public functions. Observers noted that the video has sparked a debate on the responsibility of elected officials in maintaining ethical conduct during public events.

Several leaders raised concerns about public morality and the treatment of women at official and social gatherings.

Many have criticized the DMK leadership, highlighting the gap between public expectations of decorum and the behavior of party ministers. The incident has intensified political debate in Tamil Nadu, placing both Udhayanidhi Stalin and the DMK under scrutiny at a national level.
