Class 10 student gives birth to baby boy; Case registered under POCSO Act

POCSO Act: A class 10 girl, who was supposed to build a future, gave birth to a baby boy in a school hostel in Koppals Kukanur taluk. The Kukanur police conducted an operation and arrested the accused, and a case has been registered under the POCSO Act.

A minor studying in a school in Kukanur taluk complained of sudden stomach pain and was immediately admitted to the Women and Children’s Hospital in Koppal. At this time, the minor girl gave birth to a boy, and this incident has made the entire district bow its head.

The district administration was alerted when it came to know that the minor had given birth to a boy, and District Collector Suresh Itnal and District Superintendent of Police Dr. Ram L. Arasiddi immediately rushed to the hospital and inquired about the girl’s health.

The Kukanur police also carried out a quick operation and arrested the youth responsible for the girl’s condition. A case has been registered under the POCSO Act and the investigation has been intensified. This incident has raised concerns about the safety of children in the hostel.

Parents’ anger against the hostel warden Parents and villagers are shocked to know how the girl went unnoticed by the warden or staff even though she was 9 months pregnant. There are doubts whether the hostel staff knew about this but turned a blind eye.

If such an incident happens in a hostel that is meant for the protection of girls, who should the parents trust and send their children to school? Parents have expressed their anger, saying that this is the height of negligence.
