Bengaluru: Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot has been admitted to Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru after suffering from a high viral fever. According to sources, the Governor was admitted two days ago and is currently under observation and treatment.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited the hospital on Wednesday to inquire about the Governor’s health and wished him a speedy recovery. “Visited Manipal Hospital today and enquired about the health of Hon’ble Governor Thawarchand Gehlot, who is under treatment. I wished him a quick recovery,” Siddaramaiah wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Gehlot, who had recently traveled to Madhya Pradesh to attend a series of official events, is believed to have fallen ill due to fatigue and overexertion. Sources said that after his return to Bengaluru, he developed a persistent fever, prompting his medical team to advise hospitalization.
Initially, the Governor was taken to a private hospital near Old Airport Road, but he was later shifted to Manipal Hospital for advanced medical care. Doctors have confirmed that his condition is stable and that he is expected to be discharged later today.
Officials from the Raj Bhavan have also stated that there is no cause for concern and that the Governor is responding well to treatment.
The incident comes just days after former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda was also hospitalized in Bengaluru, prompting visits from several political leaders.
With the winter session of the Karnataka Legislature approaching, sources from the Governor’s office said he is expected to resume his duties soon after discharge.
