Priyank Kharge Urges Calm Ahead of Delhi Visit

Bengaluru : Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge has appealed for calm, emphasizing that all activities remain peaceful amid speculation over the Chief Minister’s Delhi visit. Speaking in Bengaluru, Kharge addressed media concerns and advised, “Please keep cameras off for two days. Everything will remain calm and peaceful.”

Responding to questions about the CM’s Delhi engagement, Kharge clarified that the trip is related to the release of Kapil Sibal’s biography. “After the book release, officials may be met, and leaders like Rahul Gandhi or I may attend. But we are going to Delhi, not Nagpur. I visit once a month, meet central ministers, and discuss departmental matters. We are calm; maintain peace,” he said.

Kharge stressed that earlier statements by Yathindra Siddaramaiah regarding political discussions had already been clarified by the CM. “It was not administrative; there was no fundamental error. Leadership must grow regardless of the individual, and Congress has no shortage of leadership or ideology,” he added.

On concerns about internal speculation about Kharge’s role as Deputy CM, he remarked, “Where does this discussion come from? How do you know before we do? The high command is the AICC President. Do not create stories. Public statements do not change decisions; discussions should happen at the right forums.”

Kharge also addressed the Chittapur Path agitation, underlining adherence to law and the constitution. “No one is above the Constitution. Peace meetings are organized by officials, and we follow legal procedures. We only expect the same from others. BJP and RSS do not follow it, and we are just insisting that they do,” he said.
