Chikkaballapur: An audio clip purportedly featuring Minister Jameer Ahmad Khan in conversation with PSI Jagadish Reddy of the Peresandra Police Station has gone viral on social media.
In the recording, the minister is heard allegedly intervening on behalf of individuals accused in a fraud case, sparking widespread criticism from political circles, particularly the JDS state unit.
According to reports, local farmer Krishnappa and others had sold jowar to Telangana-based traders. However, the traders, including Abdul Razak, Akbar Pasha, and Naseer Ahmad from Hyderabad, reportedly failed to make payments, prompting a complaint at the Peresandra Police Station.
In the audio, Minister Jameer is heard saying, “Namaste, brother. Our relative Akbar Pasha from Hyderabad owes someone money. I hear you have brought them here. Please help a little, brother.” PSI Jagadish Reddy reportedly responded, “We have instructed them to settle the matter.
If they sit and speak with us, it gets cleared. Once settled, we can file a ‘B’ report. They and their associates still have an issue.” The minister then reportedly requested, “Please give this one opportunity.”
The viral clip has triggered outrage, with the JDS questioning the minister’s ethics. On social media platform X, the party remarked, “Minister Jameer Ahmad, who consumed Karnataka’s resources and earned votes from Kannadigas, should be ashamed! Recommending police assistance for your relatives who defrauded state farmers is unacceptable. As a responsible minister, how can you endorse cheating and betray the farmers’ trust?”
The JDS further criticized the state’s policing, stating that instead of protecting victims, the system appears to act as a settlement center for powerful interests. The controversy comes shortly after PSI Jagadish Reddy was transferred from Peresandra to another police station.
