Former Minister B. Sriramulu accuses Priyank Kharge of vendetta politics, calls Congress government ‘undeclared emergency’

Hubballi : Former Minister B. Sriramulu on Tuesday accused Congress leader Priyank Kharge of indulging in politics of hatred, targeting RSS supporters, and suppressing dissent to further personal ambitions of becoming the state Deputy Chief Minister.

Speaking to the media, Sriramulu alleged that agreements made earlier with AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge have ensured Siddaramaiah continues as Chief Minister, while Priyank Kharge is being positioned as Deputy CM. “This is why Congress is allegedly harassing citizens who support India Mata Ki Jai and the RSS. They are even rewarding those who express anti-national or Pakistan-leaning sentiments with positions like Rajya Sabha memberships,” he charged.

Sriramulu drew parallels with the Emergency of 1975, saying, “The current Siddaramaiah-led government has created an undeclared emergency in the state. Anyone who dares to speak against them faces consequences.”

He further clarified BJP’s position on leadership, praising Satish Jarkiholi, a Valmiki community leader, saying, “If given an opportunity, Satish Jarkiholi as CM will have our full support. He has worked hard within the party, and we would be happy to see him lead.”

With the tenure of the current Legislative Council members ending, Sriramulu stated that BJP leaders are convening meetings to finalise nominations for five new members. “The number of aspirants is rising, and the party will submit a report with the final list to the Rajyapal and central leadership shortly,” he added.

The former minister’s statements reflect mounting political tension in Karnataka ahead of upcoming leadership discussions, highlighting clashes within Congress and positioning BJP as a vigilant opposition.

Sriramulu concluded by emphasising the need for public awareness and support, warning that the Congress government’s alleged suppression of dissent and vendetta politics could have long-term consequences for governance and democratic principles in the state.

This comes amid heightened scrutiny of the Kharge family’s political maneuvers, with BJP leaders asserting that such actions amount to undermining democratic discourse in Karnataka.
