High Court nod to RSS march a victory for democracy, says BJP chief Vijayendra
Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court’s decision to permit the RSS route march in Chittapur has been hailed as a “victory for democracy” by BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra, who accused the Congress government of attempting to “suppress constitutional rights for political motives.”
In a post on X, Vijayendra stated, “The High Court has lashed out at the Congress government that tried to snatch away citizens’ democratic rights. It has upheld the dignity of the Constitution and made it clear that autocracy has no place in a democracy. Those who boast about constitutional values have now received a fitting lesson.”
He further said that it was the government’s duty to grant permission for cultural and public awareness programmes with appropriate law-and-order conditions. “In the name of maintaining law and order, the Congress attempted to choke democratic expression. But their deceitful strategy has been neutralised by the court’s verdict,” he added.
Earlier, Vijayendra had shared on X a copy of the Tahsildar’s refusal to allow the RSS march, expressing outrage and directly targeting Minister Priyank Kharge for “misusing power to curb nationalist organisations.”
BJP state general secretary V. Sunil Kumar also weighed in, saying, “My father Vasudeva was a swayamsevak who introduced me to the RSS. I’ve ensured my son continues that tradition. Unlike others, we don’t inherit power by lineage — we earn it through service.”
Meanwhile, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Lahar Singh Siroya alleged that Priyank Kharge’s attacks on the RSS were politically motivated. “Priyank has his eyes on the Chief Minister or Deputy CM post. He’s trying to please Rahul Gandhi by showcasing his ideological loyalty. He knows that being more aligned with Gandhi’s ideology than Siddaramaiah or D.K. Shivakumar could fetch him a higher position,” Siroya remarked.
