Puttur youth found dead in Bengaluru lodge under mysterious circumstances; Probe underway
Puttur youth: The probe being continued over a death of a youth from Dakshina Kannada district. A 20-year-old youth from Puttur was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a lodge room in Madiwala, Bengaluru, where he had been staying with his girlfriend from Virajpet for the past eight days.
The deceased has been identified as Takshith (20), while his companion, Payal (name changed), is reportedly from Virajpet in Kodagu district.
According to police sources, the couple had checked into Grand Choice Lodge on October 9. On October 17, Payal reportedly left the room but did not return. The hotel staff, noticing no activity from the room throughout the day, used a master key to open the door and found Takshith’s body lying on the floor. They immediately informed Madiwala Police.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the two had studied together in a Mangaluru college before dropping out after failing in a few subjects. Takshith, who had told his family he was going to Mysuru for studies, had instead taken a room in Bengaluru with his girlfriend.
Lodge staff said the couple ordered food through delivery apps like Zomato and Swiggy every day and rarely stepped out. Reports suggest that both suffered from food poisoning after their last meal. Payal had checked out on Friday afternoon, citing his illness, and left for Kodagu. Later that evening, the staff discovered Takshith’s body.
DCP (Southeast Division) Sarah Fatima said a case of unnatural death (UDR) has been registered and all angles—including possible poisoning, suicide pact, or cardiac arrest—are being investigated. The body was shifted to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem, and the report is awaited to determine the exact cause of death.
The mysterious circumstances surrounding Payal’s departure and Takshith’s sudden death have raised several unanswered questions. Police probing in all angles, and expecting to get autopsy report in two days.
