Bagalkot Horror: Man Murders Mother Over Alcohol Money in Tulasingeri Village
Bagalkot Horror: In a deeply disturbing incident, a 28-year-old man allegedly murdered his own mother in Tulasingeri village of Bagalkot taluk after she refused to give him money for alcohol. The victim, identified as Shavakka Girisagar (58), was found dead in her rented home, her body tied and throat slit in a brutal act that has shocked the local community.
The accused, Venkatesh Girisagar, reportedly tied his mother’s hands and legs with cloth, gagged her mouth, and then slit her throat before fleeing the scene. Shavakka, who had been living with her son for the past 15 years, died in agony inside their modest home.
Background of Abuse and Dependency
Shavakka’s husband had passed away years ago, and her daughter had been married off to another town. Left with her son Venkatesh, she worked as a daily wage laborer to support him. However, Venkatesh was unemployed and addicted to alcohol. Neighbors reported frequent quarrels between the two, often triggered by his demands for money to buy liquor.
On Thursday, Venkatesh once again demanded money for alcohol. When Shavakka refused, he allegedly committed the heinous crime. Later that evening, concerned neighbors peeked through the door and discovered her lifeless body lying in a pool of blood.
Police Action and Arrest
Kaladagi police were immediately informed and rushed to the scene. After preliminary investigation, they tracked down Venkatesh at a bar near Gaddanakeri Cross, where he was found drinking. He was taken into custody and is currently being interrogated.
Community in Shock
The murder has sparked outrage and grief in Tulasingeri village. Locals condemned the act, calling it a betrayal of the very person who gave him life and nurtured him. “She carried him for nine months, raised him with hardship, and he ended her life for alcohol,” said one resident, expressing disbelief at the cruelty.
The case highlights the devastating consequences of substance abuse and domestic violence, especially in vulnerable households. Police have assured that strict legal action will be taken against the accused. Further investigation is underway.
