Police crack Chadchan SBI robbery case, three gun suppliers from Bihar arrested

Police investigating the State Bank of India (SBI) robbery in Chadchan town have successfully arrested three key accused from Bihar — Rakesh Kumar Sahani (22), Rajkumar Paswan (21), and Rakshak Kumar Matho (21). According to officials, the trio supplied firearms to the robbers who carried out the audacious heist.

The robbery occurred on September 16 around 6 pm, when three armed men stormed the Chadchan SBI branch, tied up the bank manager, staff, and customers, and escaped with 20 kg of gold ornaments and ₹1.50 crore in cash. While making their getaway via Hulajanti in Mangalaveda taluk, Maharashtra, the robbers’ vehicle collided with a bike, leading to a scuffle. Sensing danger, the accused abandoned their car and frightened locals before fleeing.

Police have since seized 9 kg of the stolen gold and ₹86 lakh out of the ₹1.50 crore looted from the bank. The hunt continues for the remaining suspects and stolen property.

In a related breakthrough, police have made significant progress in solving the earlier Canara Bank robbery at Managuli town, Basavanabagewadi taluk, which occurred on May 25. During that theft, 58 kg of gold ornaments and ₹5 lakh were stolen. The gang involved melted the ornaments into bars and sold some of the loot. Police recovered 39 kg of gold bars and ₹1.16 crore last month, and have now seized an additional 4.8 kg of gold bars and ₹22 lakh in cash, bringing the total recovered gold to about 43 kg and cash to ₹1.38 crore. So far, 15 accused have been arrested in the case.

Police also claim to have solved the recent theft case at a judge’s residence in Muddebihal Taluk Court.
