Hassan: A tragic incident occurred in Hosuru village of Sakleshpura taluk, where two children drowned in a farm pond while trying to retrieve a toy train.
The deceased have been identified as Pranay (7), son of Krishna, a second-grade student, and Nishanth, son of Prashanth, who attended an Anganwadi. Since schools were on holiday, the children had accompanied their parents to a nearby coffee plantation.
While playing near the farm pond in the coffee estate, the toy train fell into the water. Both children entered the pond to retrieve it but tragically drowned. When they did not return for a long time, the parents began searching for them and found their slippers near the pond. Subsequent searches led to the discovery of the children’s bodies in the water.
The bodies were recovered and taken to Sakleshpura Crawford Hospital. Grief-stricken parents were inconsolable at the hospital premises. A case has been registered at Sakleshpura City Police Station in connection with the incident.
