BSNL VoWiFi Service: BSNL users can now make calls without network

BSNL VoWiFi Service: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has recently launched its Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) or Wi-Fi Calling service. VoWiFi allows BSNL mobile users to make and receive voice calls using a Wi-Fi network (like your home Wi-Fi or public hotspot) instead of the traditional mobile network. This is especially useful for making clear calls in areas with poor or weak BSNL cellular signal. BSNL soft-launched the VoWiFi service on October 2, 2025, as part of its Silver Jubilee celebrations. The service was initially rolled out in the West and South Zone circles. BSNL plans to expand this service to other regions nationwide soon.

The service is free of cost for all BSNL users. You will not need to pay any additional charges for calling over Wi-Fi; calls will be charged as per your existing voice plan.

Requirements:

1. A BSNL SIM card.

2. A VoWiFi-compatible smartphone (most modern 4G smartphones support this).

3. A working Wi-Fi connection.

How to Enable:

1. Go to your phone’s Settings.

2. Look for the “Wi-Fi Calling” or “Voice Over Wi-Fi” option. This is usually found within the Mobile Network or Connections settings.

3. Toggle the setting to On.

4. Your phone should automatically switch to Wi-Fi Calling when the mobile signal is poor, provided you are connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.

This move brings BSNL in line with private telecom operators like Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea, who have been offering VoWiFi for a while.
