WhatsApp New Feature: There has been a major development in the world of mobile communication. Google has announced that its new Pixel 10 series will be the first smartphone to support WhatsApp voice and video calls over a satellite network. WhatsApp New Feature: Now make video calls on WhatsApp without internet.
This is not a feature for all phones. It requires a specialized smartphone with a satellite communication chip, like the new Google Pixel 10 series. When you are in an area with no cellular or Wi-Fi network, the phone can connect to a satellite to make and receive WhatsApp calls.
Google has confirmed that this satellite-based WhatsApp calling feature will go live on August 28, 2025. This date coincides with the first day the Pixel 10 series will go on sale. This feature will only be available in select regions where network carriers support satellite connectivity.
Google has also stated that additional charges may apply for using this service. This is a major step beyond emergency-only satellite features found on other phones, like Apple’s SOS service, which only allows for text messages to emergency services.

The new Google Pixel 10 and WhatsApp partnership will allow users to connect with any contact on their list, which could be a significant safety feature for people in remote areas or during natural disasters.
It is important to note that this feature will not be available in India at the initial launch, as satellite communication for public use still requires government approval in the country. However, telecom companies like BSNL have indicated they are working on launching satellite services, so the feature could become available in India in the future.
