CBSE Class 9 and 11: Board Issued new guidelines for 2025-2026 academic year
CBSE Class 9 and 11: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued new guidelines for the registration of Class 9 and 11 students for the 2025-26 academic years. These rules are crucial as they determine eligibility for the Class 10 and 12 board examinations.
The key requirements include:
Mandatory APAAR ID:
The Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID is a mandatory requirement for all students registering in Classes 9 and 11. Schools must link each student’s APAAR ID during the online registration process. This is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
75% Attendance Requirement:
A strict 75% attendance policy has been reiterated. Students in Classes 9 and 11 must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance to be eligible to appear for their board examinations. Only those with a documented medical emergency or participation in national/international sports events may be considered for a relaxation of this rule.
Data Accuracy and Verification:
Schools have been directed to ensure accurate data entry for all students. This includes correct names, dates of birth, and subject selections, which must be submitted without abbreviations. After the registration period, a verification window will be available for schools to make corrections, typically in November.
However, no further corrections will be permitted after the final submission, except in transfer cases. Schools are also instructed to counsel parents and students on the importance of providing correct personal details.
Other Important Rules:
No Dual Enrollment: Students cannot be registered with any other school education board simultaneously with CBSE.
Two-Year Course: The Board has reaffirmed that Class 10 and 12 should be viewed as two-year programs. This means students in Class 10 must have studied in Class 9, and those in Class 12 must have studied in Class 11.
Online Registration: The entire registration process must be completed online through the Pariksha Sangam portal.
Compliance: Schools are required to adhere to all affiliation bye-laws, including norms on section strength and student-teacher ratios. Violations can lead to strict action, including the withdrawal of affiliation.
