Toll Plaza: FASTag will not work on these expressways
Toll Plaza: The FASTag Annual Pass, launched by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), is a prepaid toll plan for private, non-commercial vehicles. Toll Plaza: FASTag will not work on these expressways.
It offers either one year of validity or up to 200 toll plaza crossings, whichever comes first, for a one-time payment of Rs 3,000. The key limitation of the FASTag Annual Pass is that it is only valid on expressways and highways managed by the NHAI. It will not work on expressways, state highways, or other toll plazas that are managed by state governments or local authorities.
Here is a list of prominent expressways where the FASTag Annual Pass is not valid:
Yamuna Expressway
Agra-Lucknow Expressway
Purvanchal Expressway
Bundelkhand Expressway
For these and other state-managed expressways, the toll amount will be deducted from your regular FASTag account balance as a standard pay-per-use transaction.

It is important to note that these expressways are managed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), not the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). As such, toll rate changes are determined by these state-level authorities.
Yamuna Expressway:
The toll rates on the Yamuna Expressway were last hiked in late 2024, with new rates coming into effect on October 1, 2024. The new rates for a one-way trip from Greater Noida to Agra are:
Two-wheelers/three-wheelers: Rs 1.50 per km
Cars/jeeps/light motor vehicles: Rs 2.95 per km
Buses and trucks: rs 4.60 per km
Heavy vehicles: Rs 14.25 per km
This increase was reportedly the first hike in three years and was approved to align with the terms of the new operator, the Suraksha Group, to ensure the expressway’s financial viability.
Agra-Lucknow Expressway:
The toll rates on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway were last revised on April 1, 2024. The rates for a full journey are:
Car/Jeep/Van: Rs 655
Light Commercial Vehicle: Rs 1,035
Bus/Truck: Rs 2,075
Heavy Construction Machinery: Rs 3,170
Large Vehicles: Rs 4,070
These rates may be subject to a periodic annual increase based on the wholesale price index (WPI), with the next review expected around April 2025.
Purvanchal Expressway:
Toll rates on the Purvanchal Expressway currently have a 25% discount on the base toll rates. As of August 2025, the full-journey costs for a one-way trip are:
Car/Jeep/Van: Rs 675
Light Commercial Vehicle: Rs 1,065
Bus/Truck: Rs 2,145
Heavy Vehicle (3+ axles): Rs 3,285
The Uttar Pradesh government has been evaluating new toll rates for its expressways, and while no new hikes have been announced for August 2025, a revision based on WPI is expected in April 2026.
Bundelkhand Expressway:
Toll collection on the Bundelkhand Expressway began in July 2023. As of August 2025, the rates for a full journey are:
Car/Jeep/Van (LMV): Rs 620
Light Commercial Vehicle: Rs 990
Bus/Truck: Rs 1,995
Heavy Construction Machines: Rs 3,040
Multi-Axle Vehicles (7+ wheels): Rs 3,895
The toll for a return trip within 24 hours for a car is Rs 993. The toll rules for this expressway reportedly allow for an annual increase of up to 10%.
