Toll new policy: introduce national policy for tolling from April 1
Toll new policy: The government is set to introduce a national policy for toll collection on national highways, Union Road, Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Saturday, which will ensure reasonable concessions, which will provide greater relief to commuters.
The Union Minister said that the policy is ready and is expected to be announced before April 1. He did not share further details regarding the policy but said that people will no longer fight over toll rates on national highways.

“I will announce a policy on tolls before April 1st. “This will provide reasonable discounts to passengers,” Gadkari said. Speaking in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, the minister said the government is planning to introduce an annual pass system to replace toll collection on national highways, which will increase operational efficiency and promote convenience for road users.
The transport ministry has also invited Request for Proposal (RFP) to implement Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) FASTag System-based barrier-free tolling system on the fee plazas of “Gharonda, Choryasi, Nemili, UER-II and Dwarka Expressway”, with the possibility of implementing it on other fee plazas in a phased manner depending upon the outcomes and efficacy of the implementation on these projects.

Speaking at the event, Gadkari said that there is no shortage of money but there is a need to increase the expenditure allocated in the budget. Currently, NHAI toll revenue is Rs 55,000 crore, which is expected to increase to Rs 1.40 lakh crore in the next two years.
I have a plan for monetization of Rs 5 lakh crore and budget support of Rs 2.80 lakh crore. “I want to speed up the pace of spending that is delayed for environmental approvals and land acquisition,” he said.
