Oppo ColorOS 17 Update: New Design, Smoother Animations And Live Activities

Oppo is working on the next major version of its smartphone software, and ColorOS 17 could bring a noticeable visual change for users. The upcoming interface is based on Android 17 and appears to focus heavily on animations, transparency effects and a more responsive feel.

The company has not yet released ColorOS 17 as a regular update for all users. However, early teasers shared by Oppo have offered a glimpse at some of the changes being considered for the new software. Based on these previews, the company seems to be concentrating not only on adding features but also on making everyday interactions feel smoother.

A major visual change could come through the new Liquid Acrylic design language. The interface is expected to use translucent elements, glass like effects and lighting details to give menus and other parts of the system a more modern appearance.

The Liquid Acrylic approach has similarities to the transparent design trends seen in some competing smartphone operating systems, although Oppo is developing its own implementation for ColorOS.

Animations are another area receiving considerable attention. ColorOS 17 is expected to introduce a new Fluid Fusion Animation Engine, which is designed to improve transitions between screens and make system movements appear more natural.

Teasers suggest that different parts of the interface could respond more dynamically when users interact with them. Oppo is also working on a feedback system that may allow certain app screens to subtly stretch or compress in response to touch. The idea is to make interactions feel more connected to the user’s actions rather than simply triggering fixed animations.

Navigation could also receive a visual adjustment. Early information points to a redesigned navigation bar that may appear toward the upper section of the app interface. The change could help create a more consistent appearance across different areas of the software.

ColorOS 17 may also expand the role of the lock screen. A Live Activity Bar has appeared in the early previews, suggesting that users could be able to check information about certain ongoing activities without opening an application.

Notification interactions are expected to receive some attention as well. The animation shown when notifications are dismissed appears to have been redesigned, adding another small change to the overall interface experience.

The upcoming software could make its debut on Oppo’s next premium smartphone lineup. Reports suggest that the Find X10 series may be among the first devices to receive ColorOS 17. Expected models include the Find X10, Find X10 Pro and Find X10 Pro Max.

Oppo is reportedly preparing to introduce the Android 17 based software soon, although the exact rollout schedule and supported device list have not been fully confirmed. The company has already opened a beta program, allowing developers and application makers to test the new software and prepare their apps for the updated environment.
