Bike rider escapes a serious accident

Police arrest tanker driver and seize vehicle

A serious road accident on the Gunjur Palya CDP Road in Bengaluru has raised fresh concerns about road safety and the movement of heavy commercial vehicles. A water tanker reportedly ran over a motorcycle, while the rider managed to escape moments before the collision.

The incident was captured on video and quickly spread across social media. The footage showed the tanker moving towards the motorcycle before the rider jumped away to avoid being struck. The motorcycle was then crushed under the tankers wheels.

Following the circulation of the video, Whitefield traffic police began investigating the incident. Police have now arrested the tanker driver, registered a case and seized the vehicle.

According to reports, local resident Saurabh Agarwal was riding along the Gunjur Palya road when the tanker approached at speed. The road was reportedly in poor condition and had water accumulated across parts of it.

Agarwal apparently realised that the tanker was not slowing down and jumped from his motorcycle at the last moment. Within seconds, the heavy vehicle passed over the bike, leaving it badly damaged. The rider escaped with his life, turning what could have been a fatal accident into a narrow escape.

People at the location reportedly surrounded the tanker after the crash and prevented the driver from leaving before informing the police.

The inspection of the tanker also reportedly brought several concerns to light. Local accounts claimed that the vehicle did not have a clearly visible registration plate and that the driver allegedly did not possess a valid driving licence. These details are part of the ongoing investigation.

Residents have also blamed the condition of the road for increasing the danger. Deep potholes, standing water and the movement of heavy commercial vehicles have reportedly made the stretch difficult for two wheeler riders.

The latest accident has renewed calls from residents for immediate road repairs and stricter monitoring of water tankers and other heavy vehicles operating in the area. They have urged authorities to address both the damaged road and traffic violations to prevent another serious incident.
