HMD Global introduces a durable budget feature phone with IP65 protection, expandable storage, long battery backup, and a compact design for users seeking reliability.

HMD Global has launched a new Nokia branded feature phone called the Nokia 123 Shield. Positioned as a rugged and affordable device, the phone is designed for users who need a durable handset with long battery life rather than advanced smartphone features.

The Nokia 123 Shield has been listed on HMD Global’s official global website, although the company has not yet revealed its exact price. HMD has described it as one of its most affordable rugged feature phones, focusing on durability and essential communication features.

The phone comes with a strong build designed to handle challenging conditions. It carries an IP65 rating, which provides protection against dust and water exposure. This makes the device suitable for users who work in outdoor environments or need a reliable backup phone.

One of the main highlights of the Nokia 123 Shield is its battery performance. The phone is equipped with a 1,750mAh battery, and the company claims it can deliver up to 19 days of standby time. It can also provide up to 27.9 hours of talk time on a single charge, making it useful for users who prefer a phone with extended battery endurance.

For charging, the device includes a USB Type C port, which is a notable addition for a feature phone in this category. The handset also supports Bluetooth connectivity and comes with a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Nokia 123 Shield features a 2.4 inch display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. Under the hood, it is powered by the Unisoc SC6531E processor paired with 4MB RAM and 4MB internal storage.

Although the built in storage is limited, users can expand it through a microSD card slot. The phone supports expandable storage of up to 32GB, allowing users to store additional contacts, music, and other files.

The handset also includes a camera with an LED flash, offering basic photography functionality for everyday needs. While it is not designed for advanced photography, the camera adds extra convenience for feature phone users.

In terms of design, the Nokia 123 Shield measures 15mm in thickness and weighs 108 grams. Its compact body and rugged construction make it easier to carry while offering additional durability compared to standard feature phones.

With its tough design, water and dust resistance, large battery capacity, and essential connectivity options, the Nokia 123 Shield targets users who value reliability and simplicity. The phone is expected to appeal to customers looking for a secondary device, outdoor use phone, or an affordable handset with long lasting battery life.
