A heartbreaking incident was reported from Madhya Pradesh, where a pregnant woman delivered quadruplets inside an auto rickshaw after an ambulance failed to reach her on time. Tragically, all four premature babies died shortly after birth.
The incident took place on Tuesday in Nainpur area of Mandla district. Rajini Singaram, a 28 year old woman who was seven months pregnant, went into labour at her home. Her family immediately tried to arrange a 108 ambulance to take her to the hospital, but according to relatives, the vehicle did not arrive.
With her condition worsening, the family decided to rush her to the hospital in an auto rickshaw. During the journey, she delivered four babies before reaching the medical facility.
Doctors later confirmed that all four newborns, who were born prematurely, could not be saved despite medical efforts. The mother is reported to have received treatment at the hospital.
The woman’s husband blamed the delay in ambulance services for the tragedy. He alleged that timely emergency medical transport could have improved the chances of survival for the babies and held shortcomings in the public healthcare response responsible for the incident.
The case has drawn attention to the importance of prompt emergency medical services, especially in rural areas where delayed transportation can have life threatening consequences for mothers and newborns.
