HMD has made a strong entry once again in the budget 5G smartphone segment with its latest launch, the HMD Vibe 2 5G. The device has already created a buzz in the Indian market after reports confirmed that it sold out within just one hour of its first Flipkart sale on 26 May. The company has described the response as highly encouraging, especially in the competitive sub Rs 12000 category.
Interestingly, the smartphone is being promoted as one of the first in its segment to feature Sarvam AI powered Indus technology under Rs 10000 to 12000 pricing range. This positioning has helped the device attract attention from budget conscious users looking for modern features at an affordable price.
The strong demand reflects the growing interest in entry level 5G smartphones in India. Many users are now shifting from 4G devices to budget 5G models, and HMD appears to have tapped into this demand at the right time.
In terms of pricing, the HMD Vibe 2 5G is available in two storage variants. The base model with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at Rs 10999, while the higher variant with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage comes at Rs 11999. The smartphone is available through Flipkart and the official HMD website.
Moving to the specifications, the device features a 6.75 inch HD plus IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The design follows a simple 2D screen profile with a V notch display layout aimed at providing a clean viewing experience.
Powering the device is the Unisoc T8200 processor, paired with multiple RAM and storage options including 4GB and 6GB RAM configurations. Storage can go up to 128GB and is expandable up to 1TB via microSD card support. The phone runs on Android 16 and comes with a promise of two years of security updates.
Camera performance is also a key highlight of the HMD Vibe 2 5G. The rear setup includes a 50 megapixel AI powered dual camera system designed for improved clarity and detail. On the front, the phone carries an 8 megapixel selfie camera for video calls and social media use.
Connectivity features include 5G support along with Bluetooth 5.0, Wi Fi, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and Beidou support. The device is backed by a large 6000mAh battery with 18W fast charging, ensuring long usage for daily tasks. For added security, it also includes a side mounted fingerprint sensor.
