Sony Launches HT B500 Soundbar with Dolby Atmos and Powerful 3.1 Channel Audio

New home entertainment system brings immersive surround sound deep bass and advanced voice clarity features aiming to deliver theatre like audio experience without ceiling speakers for modern living rooms

Sony has expanded its audio lineup with the launch of the Sony HT B500, a new 3.1 channel sound system designed to elevate home entertainment. The soundbar focuses on delivering a cinematic experience with advanced surround technologies and enhanced vocal clarity.

The device has first been introduced in China, where it is priced at around 2341 yuan. It is currently available through platforms like JD.com as well as Sony’s official channels. The company has not yet confirmed when it will expand to other global markets, leaving international availability uncertain for now.

At the core of the HT B500 is a 3.1 channel audio configuration that combines front facing speakers with a dedicated center channel unit. This setup is designed to improve dialogue clarity, making voices in movies and shows more distinct even during high intensity scenes.

A major highlight of the system is its powerful external subwoofer, which delivers deep and impactful bass. The soundbar also supports advanced audio formats such as Dolby Atmos and DTS X, aiming to create a more immersive listening experience that feels spatial and layered.

One of the standout features is Sony’s virtual sound technology, which allows the system to create an overhead audio effect without the need for ceiling mounted speakers. This helps users experience a more three dimensional sound field within a typical living room setup.

To further enhance immersion, the soundbar uses S Force Pro Front Surround technology, which expands sound horizontally across the room. It also includes a 3D upmixing feature that converts standard two channel audio into a more dynamic surround experience, making even regular content feel more engaging.

Voice clarity has also been improved with AI Voice Enhancement 3.0. This feature separates dialogue from background noise, ensuring that conversations remain clear even in action heavy scenes or noisy environments.

For connectivity, the HT B500 supports Bluetooth 5.3, allowing wireless streaming from compatible devices. It also includes HDMI eARC and optical input options, offering flexibility for connecting with TVs and other home entertainment systems.

With its combination of immersive audio technology, strong bass performance and smart sound processing features, Sony aims to position the HT B500 as a complete solution for users looking to upgrade their home theatre experience without complex speaker setups.
