Kharge remarks trigger political storm in Karnataka; C T Ravi launches sharp attack

Chikkamagaluru : A fresh political storm has erupted in Karnataka after sharp remarks by C. T. Ravi against senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge over his recent comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP leader launched a scathing attack, accusing Kharge of making “irresponsible and unacceptable” statements that do not befit his stature.

Speaking to reporters in Chikkamagaluru, Ravi said Kharge’s remarks comparing Modi to a “terrorist” were shocking and reflected poorly on his decades-long political career. “Kharge avare, your statement does not match your 60 years of political experience. You are speaking like a mentally unstable person. People are beginning to see you that way,” Ravi said in a strongly worded response.

He further alleged that Congress leaders have a history of making controversial statements about terrorism. “Your party leaders call real terrorists ‘brothers’. That is the reality. When terror incidents happen, instead of condemning them strongly, Congress leaders speak in a way that creates sympathy for terrorists,” he claimed.

Ravi also took a dig at Congress’s ideological positioning, saying the party’s messaging was contradictory. “You speak about ‘Mohabbat Ka Dukan’, but what you are actually running is ‘Nafrat Ka Dukan’. On one hand, you talk about love, and on the other, you spread hatred through such statements,” he alleged.

Escalating his attack, Ravi accused Kharge of insulting not just the Prime Minister but also the people of Gujarat. “You have called Gujaratis illiterate and labelled Modi as a terrorist. This is not just an attack on an individual but an insult to the people who have repeatedly elected him,” he said.

He further alleged that Congress and its ideological affiliates were trying to provoke divisions. “By calling BJP and RSS poisonous entities and asking certain communities to act against them, you are encouraging dangerous narratives,” Ravi said.

The BJP leader expressed disappointment, stating that Kharge, being from Karnataka, was expected to uphold the dignity of the state. “We thought you would bring respect to Karnataka with your position. But your statements are damaging the image of the state and its people,” he added.
