Dhurandhar 2 continues global box office dominance, sets new records

The spy action thriller ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, directed by Aditya Dhar, continues its remarkable run at the global box office, setting new benchmarks for Indian cinema. Building on the massive success of its predecessor, the film has emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters in recent times.

Produced under the banners of Jio Studios and B62 Studios by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar, the Dhurandhar franchise has now achieved a historic milestone. It is being hailed as the first Indian film series to cross unprecedented revenue figures across both domestic and international markets.

The first installment, released on December 5, 2025, had already created waves by grossing over ₹1000 crore worldwide. Despite initial concerns over its long runtime, the film received an overwhelming response from audiences and critics alike, eventually becoming a blockbuster. It earned ₹840 crore at the Hindi box office and around ₹1300 crore globally, making it one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time.

Riding on this momentum, the sequel ‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’, starring Ranveer Singh, has taken the success to another level. The film has reportedly crossed ₹1700 crore worldwide, continuing its strong theatrical run across multiple territories. Notably, it has become the first Hindi film to surpass ₹1000 crore in a single language at the Indian box office—an achievement considered a landmark in the industry.

Combined earnings of both films are estimated to have crossed ₹3000 crore globally, underlining the franchise’s massive appeal and commercial strength. Industry experts believe this success reflects a shift in audience preferences towards high-quality action cinema backed by strong storytelling and technical excellence.

The Dhurandhar series has also been credited with elevating the standards of action filmmaking in India. With its gripping narrative, patriotic undertones, and large-scale visuals, the franchise has resonated with audiences not just in India but across global markets.

As Indian cinema continues to expand its footprint internationally, Dhurandhar stands out as a defining example of how content-driven, big-budget productions can achieve both critical acclaim and commercial success on a global stage.
