Russia urges ceasefire, slams US-Israel over Iran conflict
Moscow highlighted that continued attacks on critical infrastructure, especially energy facilities, could have far-reaching consequences.
Moscow : Russia has expressed serious concern over the escalating military confrontation in the Persian Gulf, calling for an immediate end to hostilities while sharply criticising the United States and Israel for what it termed an “unprovoked aggression” against Iran.
In an official statement posted on X, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that the intensifying conflict in the Middle East is posing grave risks to regional stability and global security. Moscow highlighted that continued attacks on critical infrastructure, especially energy facilities, could have far-reaching consequences.
“The armed confrontation unfolding in the Persian Gulf is deeply alarming. Risks are escalating rapidly, and the scale of damage to energy and other vital infrastructure in Iran and neighbouring Arab countries continues to grow,” the ministry said in its statement.
Russia strongly emphasised the urgent need for a ceasefire, urging both the United States and Israel to halt military operations against Iran without delay. It described the ongoing conflict as a result of “unprovoked actions” and warned that further escalation could destabilise the entire region.
“We call for an immediate end to the war triggered by the unprovoked aggression of the United States and Israel against Iran,” the statement added, stressing that military actions must cease as the first step toward de-escalation.
Moscow also underlined the importance of diplomatic engagement, stating its willingness to work with both regional and global leaders to mediate and resolve the crisis through peaceful means. “We are ready to cooperate with international partners to facilitate dialogue and find a diplomatic solution to the conflict,” it said.
The developments come amid rising tensions in the Persian Gulf region, where attacks on oil and gas infrastructure have heightened fears of disruptions in global energy supplies. Strategic routes such as the Strait of Hormuz have come under increased pressure, raising concerns among major economies dependent on energy imports.
Russia’s strong remarks reflect growing international anxiety over the widening conflict, with several countries urging restraint and dialogue to prevent a full-scale regional war.
