Missile strike hits primary school amid escalating Israel–Iran conflict; 36 children reported dead

Tehran: The ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran has intensified dramatically, with reports emerging of a missile strike hitting a primary school in Iran, killing at least 36 children.

The incident comes amid escalating hostilities involving Israel, Iran, and the United States, raising fears of a wider regional war across the Middle East. According to Iranian media reports, the missile strike targeted a primary school building, causing severe destruction and heavy casualties.

The attack reportedly occurred while children were present on the school premises, despite emergency measures and closures being announced in several high-risk areas. Visuals and initial reports suggest significant structural damage to the school, with rescue teams rushing to the site to search for survivors and assess the extent of casualties.

The strike is believed to be part of a broader series of Israeli missile attacks that followed US military operations targeting Iranian assets. Tensions escalated further after reports that Israeli forces targeted locations near the residence of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Explosions were reported in the vicinity, though Khamenei is said to have been moved to a secure undisclosed location in advance, avoiding harm. In retaliation, Iran launched counterstrikes targeting US military bases across the Middle East.

Reports indicate that American military installations in countries including Bahrain and Abu Dhabi were among the targets. Iranian forces reportedly launched missiles and drones aimed at US strategic positions, causing damage and triggering high alert across multiple countries.

The escalation has caused widespread panic in the region, with several nations issuing emergency advisories. The European Union has strongly condemned the escalation and called for immediate de-escalation to prevent further civilian casualties and regional instability.

The situation has also raised serious concerns for thousands of Indian nationals living and working across Gulf and Middle Eastern countries. Indian embassies in Iran, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and other affected nations have issued advisories urging citizens to remain indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and strictly follow local safety guidelines.

In Jordan, Indian nationals have been advised to leave the country before commercial flight operations face disruptions. The rapidly deteriorating situation has heightened fears of a prolonged regional conflict with severe humanitarian consequences.

With civilian casualties rising and military operations expanding, the international community is closely monitoring developments and urging restraint to prevent further escalation.
