Israeli: A dramatic scene unfolded in the Israeli Parliament today when two lawmakers were forcibly removed for disrupting a speech by U.S. President Donald Trump. The incident occurred shortly after the announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, marking the end of a prolonged two-year conflict in the Gaza region.
President Trump, addressing the Knesset in a special session, hailed the ceasefire as a historic turning point for the Middle East. “After years of relentless war, the skies are peaceful. The guns are silent. The sirens have stopped. The sun rises over this sacred land in peace,” he declared, drawing applause from many members of the house.
However, the solemnity of the moment was interrupted when lawmakers Ayman Odeh and Ofer Cassif, members of the left-wing Hadash-Ta’al alliance, stood up mid-speech and began shouting slogans in Hebrew. Holding placards demanding recognition of a Palestinian state and condemning alleged atrocities, the two legislators voiced their dissent against Trump’s stance and the broader Israeli policy on Palestine.
Security personnel swiftly intervened, escorting the lawmakers out of the chamber amid visible tension. The Speaker of the Knesset later issued an apology to President Trump, clarifying that the disruption did not reflect the official position of the Israeli government.
The incident has sparked intense debate across political and social circles. Supporters of Odeh and Cassif argue that their protest was a legitimate expression of democratic dissent, while critics accuse them of undermining a moment of diplomatic significance.
Social media platforms lit up with reactions, with videos of the ejection going viral and reigniting discussions on freedom of speech, parliamentary decorum, and the future of Israeli-Palestinian relations.
