Attackers Who Killed Osman Hadi Flee to India, Say Dhaka Police

Bangladesh: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have confirmed that the attackers involved in the killing of Osman Hadi have fled to India. Attackers Who Killed Osman Hadi Flee to India, Say Dhaka Police.

According to DMP officials, two of the key suspects, Faisal Karim Masood and Alangir Sheikh, crossed the border into India via the Halughat border in Mymensingh. However, a few days ago, police had stated that they were unaware of the exact location of the attackers.

Osman Hadi, the leader and main spokesperson of the ‘Inquilab Manch’, was infamous for his anti-India rhetoric. The police identified Masood and Sheikh as the prime suspects in Hadi’s murder and confirmed that they entered India with the help of local accomplices.

Addressing the media at the DMP Media Center, Dhaka’s Additional Commissioner, S.N. Nazrul Islam, revealed that the two suspects crossed into India through Meghalaya with the assistance of local associates.

“Based on the information we received, the suspects entered India via the Halughat border. After crossing the border, they were initially received by a person named Purni, who later handed them over to a taxi driver named Sami. Sami then transported them to the town of Tura in Meghalaya,” Islam stated.

Further reports, though unofficial, suggested that Purni and Sami, who helped the suspects escape, were detained by Indian authorities. Islam confirmed these reports, stating that the two individuals had been arrested by Indian officials.

“The Bangladesh government is actively working to bring back the suspects,” Nazrul Islam stated. “We are in constant contact with Indian authorities through both formal and informal channels to ensure their arrest and extradition.”

The murder of Osman Hadi has caused significant tension between the two neighboring countries, with authorities on both sides of the border now cooperating in the investigation. While the Bangladesh government works on the legal processes for their extradition, there are growing concerns about the escalating anti-India sentiments in certain factions within Bangladesh.
