OnePlus N6 Gets August Security Update With Camera and Performance Improvements

OnePlus N6 update brings August 2026 security fixes alongside camera improvements, faster app launches and better memory management for Indian users this month, with rollout happening in batches now.

OnePlus has started rolling out a new software update for the OnePlus N6 in India, giving the phone a useful round of improvements along with the latest Android security patch.

The update arrives as firmware version CPH2955_16.0.5.1051(EX01). OnePlus announced the rollout on August 12 and has confirmed that eligible devices will receive it in batches. So, if the update has not appeared on your phone yet, there is no need to worry.

The biggest changes are aimed at everyday use. OnePlus says the update improves image quality in low light, which should be noticeable when taking pictures in darker surroundings. App launch performance has also been refined, while memory management has received improvements to make regular use smoother.

Security is another important part of the package. The update brings the August 2026 Android security patch, helping protect the smartphone against known security issues and keeping the software more up to date.

The OnePlus N6 itself comes with a 6.75 inch HD LCD display that supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It can reach up to 1200 nits in high brightness mode, making the screen easier to view in bright conditions.

The phone runs Android 16 based OxygenOS 16 and is designed as a dual SIM device. OnePlus says the handset is eligible for two major Android upgrades along with three years of security updates.

Under the hood, the N6 uses an octa core MediaTek Dimensity 6360 Apex chipset. It is available with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. For heat management, OnePlus has fitted a vapor chamber cooling system with a 5300 square millimetre heat dissipation area.

Durability is another area where the phone tries to stand out. The OnePlus N6 carries an IP65 rating for protection against dust and water and also comes with MIL STD 810H military grade durability certification.

Photography is handled by a 50 megapixel rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture and support for up to 10x digital zoom. An 8 megapixel front camera is available for selfies and video calls.

Battery life is one of the phone’s stronger points. The OnePlus N6 packs an 8000mAh battery and supports 45W wired fast charging. It also offers 6.5W reverse wired charging, allowing the phone to share power with compatible devices.

OnePlus claims the battery can retain around 80 percent of its original capacity even after 1600 complete charge and discharge cycles. The company also says the handset can deliver up to three days of battery life under suitable usage conditions.

For existing OnePlus N6 owners, the new update is worth installing once it becomes available. The combination of a fresh security patch and improvements to the camera, app launches and memory management should make the phone feel a little more polished in everyday use.
