iPhone 18 Pro Max Leak Hints at Bigger Camera Upgrade and Smaller Dynamic Island
Early dummy unit leaks suggest Apple may shrink the Dynamic Island and introduce a larger camera system on the iPhone 18 Pro Max while preparing major hardware refinements for its next flagship

The upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max is already generating buzz in the tech world despite still being far from its official launch. As one of the most anticipated devices in Apple’s lineup, it continues to attract attention mainly because of its expected camera improvements and design refinements.
Recent leaks have surfaced showing dummy units of the device, reportedly shared through tech channels including content by Max Tech on YouTube. These early models give a glimpse of how Apple may be reshaping its flagship design direction, especially around the front display and rear camera system.
One of the most noticeable changes expected is a reduction in the size of the Dynamic Island. Reports suggest that Apple could shrink it by nearly 25 percent, bringing it down to around 15mm. Even with this reduction, the company is still not moving toward a punch hole design, as it continues to refine its existing approach for a cleaner display experience.
Interestingly, some industry speculation suggests that a fully punch hole free design may only arrive with future models, possibly around the iPhone 20 generation. That device is widely expected to mark Apple’s 20th anniversary and could introduce more radical design changes.
On the back, the camera module of the iPhone 18 Pro Max appears to be getting thicker. According to leaked information, the camera bump could increase to around 11.54mm compared to 11.23mm on its predecessor. When including the lens structure, the total thickness may reach approximately 13.77mm, suggesting the use of significantly larger camera sensors.
This change indicates that Apple is likely focusing on improving image quality through upgraded hardware. There is also speculation that optical zoom capabilities could be enhanced up to 5x, offering better long range photography performance for users.
Apple has consistently upgraded its camera systems in every generation, and the trend appears to continue here. For reference, the iPhone 17 Pro Max already features a large sensor comparable to some high end competitors like Vivo’s flagship models. The next generation may push this even further with a larger sensor size and improved light capture.
Along with camera upgrades, the overall device dimensions may also increase slightly. The phone could become marginally thicker, possibly to accommodate both the enhanced camera system and a larger battery, which is often a key focus in newer Pro Max models.
While these details are based on early leaks and not confirmed by Apple, they have already sparked strong interest among fans. As always, expectations remain high whenever a new Pro Max model is in development, especially one that could define the next phase of Apple’s flagship evolution.
