Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra May Get Major Camera Design Overhaul
Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra could introduce a redesigned rear camera module, stronger camera hardware and improved Qi2 magnetic charging support.
Samsung appears to be considering a noticeable design change for its next flagship generation. Recent leaks suggest the Galaxy S27 Ultra could move away from the separate camera ring arrangement seen on recent Galaxy S models and adopt a wider camera bar or plate.
The reported change could be more than a visual refresh. Samsung may use the redesigned camera area to improve the integration of magnets for Qi2 wireless charging and magnetic accessories. If this happens, users could have fewer reasons to rely on special cases for magnetic charging accessories.
Images circulating online have reportedly shown multiple rear cameras placed within a single horizontal module. Such an arrangement would give the Galaxy S27 Ultra a distinctly different appearance compared with the current generation. However, Samsung has not confirmed the leaked design, and the final hardware could still change before launch.
Camera improvements are also expected to be part of the upgrade. Reports have pointed to a 50 megapixel ultrawide camera and a 50 megapixel 5x telephoto sensor. The front camera could reportedly move to a 16 megapixel sensor with autofocus support.
At the same time, Samsung is said to be considering changes to the secondary telephoto setup. If the company removes one of the existing telephoto cameras, it could free up internal space and help explain the proposed redesign of the rear camera section.
The possible Qi2 integration is another interesting part of the leak. A more direct magnetic system could make wireless charging and compatible accessories more convenient. It could also allow Samsung to bring magnetic functionality to the phone without making the design dependent on an additional accessory case.
It remains unclear whether Samsung will carry the same styling across the entire Galaxy S27 lineup. Current leaks appear to show different possibilities, with the Ultra model receiving the biggest visual change while other models could retain a design closer to the current generation.
For now, these details remain part of the leak cycle rather than confirmed product specifications. Samsung is likely to continue testing different prototypes before the Galaxy S27 series becomes official. If the reported changes make it to the final product, the Galaxy S27 Ultra could look considerably different from its predecessors.
