Airtel Changes Prepaid Plans as Several Recharge Options Get Costlier
Airtel has revised its prepaid lineup by removing selected plans and increasing prices on others, raising monthly costs for users who rely on daily data and longer validity.
Bharti Airtel has reshaped parts of its prepaid recharge portfolio, with some affordable plans disappearing and selected existing options becoming more expensive. The changes could leave some customers paying more for similar daily data benefits.
One of the most noticeable changes is the removal of the ₹299 recharge. The plan previously offered 28 days of validity along with 1.5GB of daily data and unlimited calling. With it no longer listed, Airtel customers looking for a 28 day daily data plan now have to consider the ₹349 option as the entry level choice in this category.
That means the starting cost for users seeking this type of recharge has effectively gone up by ₹50.
Airtel has also revised the pricing of some longer validity plans. The recharge that previously cost ₹579 for 56 days has reportedly moved to ₹619, increasing the expense by ₹40. Similarly, the 84 day plan priced at ₹859 is now listed at ₹899.
The company has also removed its ₹799 plan that offered 84 days of validity. Availability of certain ₹579 and ₹619 options may vary across telecom circles, so customers may see differences depending on their location.
There are changes beyond the headline price increases as well. Some short term data add ons and voice focused plans have reportedly seen their validity reduced. In certain cases, users may receive fewer days of service without a corresponding reduction in the recharge price.
For customers who regularly choose lower priced plans to keep their connections active, even a small reduction in validity can make a difference over time. The latest changes therefore make it important to check the current benefits and validity before completing a recharge.
