IMD Issued heavy rainfall: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy rainfall in Karnataka till July 17. Strong surface winds (40-50 kmph) are very likely over South Peninsular India, including Interior Karnataka, during the next few days.
Coastal Karnataka:
Heavy rain is very likely at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka from July 11th to July 17th. This includes districts like Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, and Udupi.

Light to moderate rainfall is expected at most/many places accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning & gusty winds (30-40 kmph) over the region during the next 7 days.
South Interior Karnataka:
Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over South Interior Karnataka during July 15th-17th. Moderate rain with sustained winds (30-40 kmph) is likely over Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Hassan, and Kodagu districts.
Light to moderate rain with sustained winds (30-40 kmph) is also expected in many places over Ballari, Bengaluru (Rural), Bengaluru (Urban), Chikkaballapura, Chamarajanagar, Davangere, Chitradurga, Kolar, Mysuru, Mandya, Ramanagara, Tumakuru, and Vijayanagar districts.

North Interior Karnataka:
Light to moderate rain with sustained winds (30-40 kmph) is likely at a few places over Bidar, Belagavi, Gadag, Vijayapura, Kalaburgi, Bagalkot, Haveri, Dharwad, Raichur, Koppal, and Yadgir districts. Strong surface winds are expected on July 11th and 12th.
Bengaluru:
Bengaluru city and surrounding areas are likely to experience generally cloudy skies with light rain and sustained winds (30-40 Kmph) for the next 48 hours (July 12th and 13th). Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected around 30°C and 20°C respectively.
The monsoon trough and an offshore trough along the Maharashtra-Karnataka coast are influencing these weather patterns. Strong surface winds (40-50 kmph) are very likely over South Peninsular India, including Interior Karnataka, during the next few days.
The IMD has advised residents, especially in flood and landslide-prone areas, to remain alert and follow local advisories. Visibility may become poor due to intense spells of rainfall, leading to traffic congestion.
Temporary disruption of traffic due to water logging, uprooting of trees, or breaking of tree branches is possible. Possibility of flash floods due to intense rainfall. People in vulnerable areas are advised to move to safer places and take shelter during thunderstorms/lightning.
