KL Rahul captains against Afghanistan in Asia Cup; Kannadiga wrote a unique record

Dubai: Kannadiga KL Rahul Captain led the Indian Cricket Team against Afghanistan in the Super-4 match of the Asia Cup tournament (Asia Cup 2022 India Vs Afghanistan). With this, Rahul has written a unique record. He has created a record of being the first player from Karnataka to lead the Indian team in all three forms of cricket, Test, ODI and T20.

Karnataka legend Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble and GR Vishwanath are the captains of the Indian team. But no one has captained all three forms of cricket. While Dravid led Team India in Tests and ODIs, Anil Kumble and GR Vishwanath were India’s captains in Test cricket.

Rahul Team (KL Rahul Captain) led India in the 2nd match of the Test series held in South Africa this year. He also captained Team India in the ODI series. Not only that, KL Rahul was at the helm of Team India in the recent 3-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. Under the leadership of Rahul, India swept the ODI series 3-0 against Zimbabwe.

Now, by leading Team India against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup, Rahul has captained the Indian team in the three-way format of cricket. As captain Rohit Sharma was rested against Afghanistan, the captaincy of the team fell on the shoulders of vice-captain Rahul. Before the match against Afghanistan, KL Rahul had faced failure in the Asia Cup tournament.

In the first league match against Pakistan, Rahul was clean bowled for zero in the first ball and scored 36 runs in the second league match against Hong Kong. In the Super-4 match against Pakistan, Rahul was dismissed after scoring 28 runs.
