IPL 2023 Auction date and place change

Kerala’s port city Kochi is going to host the Indian Premiere League (IPL) player auction for the 2023 season in December, confirmed espncricinfo.com. IPL 2023 Auction date and place change. Each team will have an additional purse of INR 5. Among the 10 teams that took part in the previous edition of the tournament, Punjab Kings (PBKS) have the highest purse of INR 3.45 crores.

IPL 2023 Auction date will take place in Kochi on December 23. Lucknow Super Giants, captained by KL Rahul, had exhausted their entire purse. Kolkata Knight Riders – 0.45 crores, Rajasthan Royals – 0.95 crores, Royal Challengers Bangalore – 1.55 crores, and Chennai Super Kings – 2.95 crores are the remaining purse of the teams.

Gujarat Titans, who won their maiden title after beating the Royals in the final, have a purse of 0.15 crores. Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad had 0.10 crores left in their purse. The deadline for submitting the list of retained and released players is November 15 and the pool of players for the auction is expected to be finalised by the first week of December.

Among the participating teams last time around, the Super Giants, Capitals and Kings bought only seven overseas players. Hence, they have a chance to pick an additional foreign player and fill in the eighth slot. Moreover, six franchises had to bring in replacement players for various reasons.

Those teams can either retain the replacement player or the original player or both. In the auction, teams will only have a chance to make some valuable additions to their squads, unlike last time when it was about building a team from scratch.
