Narendra Modi Nominated D. Veerendra Heggade and 3 others to Rajya Sabha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to announce the names and their contributions to society that will ‘enrich parliamentary proceedings‘. Narendra Modi Nominated D. Veerendra Heggade and 3 others to Rajya Sabha. Representation of south Indian states in the Rajya Sabha gets a boost with Karnataka’s D. Veerendra Heggade, Tamil Nadu‘s Illayaraja, Andhra Pradesh‘s V Vijayendra Prasad and Kerala’s P T Usha being nominated.

D. Veerendra Heggade, a noted philanthropist and the Dharmadhikari of the Dharmasthala Temple in Dakshin Kannada district of Karnataka, was nominated to the Rajya Sabha. Illayaraja, the iconic musical genius reverentially called ‘Isaignani’ by millions of his fans across the word, who has composed more than 7,000 songs, provided film scores for more than 1,400 movies, joined the illustrious list of musicians like Pandit Ravishankar and Lata Mangeshkar, to be nominated as Rajya Sabha Member

Applauding the ‘creative genius of Ilayaraja, Modi said “His works beautifully reflect many emotions. What is equally inspiring is his life journey- he rose from a humble background and achieved so much,” while expressing happiness over his nomination.

About Karnataka’s nominee Dr Veerendra Heggade, Modi wrote saying “Shri Veerendra Heggade Ji is at the forefront of outstanding community service. I have had the opportunity to pray at the Dharmasthala Temple and also witness the great work he is doing in health, education and culture. He will certainly enrich Parliamentary proceedings,”. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated screen writer V Vijayendra Prasad ‘Garu’ for his nomination and said “his works showcase India’s glorious culture and have made a mark globally”. On the sports front, ‘Golden girl of Indian Athletics’ and former Olympian PT Usha was lauded by the PM as an inspiration for every Indian. “Her accomplishments in sports are widely known but equally commendable is her work to mentor budding athletes over the last several years,” tweeted PM Modi while congratulating her on her nomination.
