Sadananda Gowda may join congress today: Contest from Udupi or Mysore

Sadananda Gowda may contest against BJP's Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar in Mysore or Kota Srinivasa Poojary in Udupi. Reports said that Congress leaders are in touch with him and an announcement is expected in a day or two.

Senior BJP leader, former Karnataka CM and Union Minister DV Sadananda Gowda is likely to quit the party and contest from Mysore or Udupi as a Congress candidate. The 72-year-old hero is celebrating his birthday yesterday (Monday).

He may contest against BJP’s Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar in Mysore or Kota Srinivasa Poojary in Udupi. Reports said that Congress leaders are in touch with him and an announcement is expected in a day or two.

Former CM Sadananda Gowda, the sitting MP from Bengaluru North Constituency, is upset that he was denied a ticket from the same constituency. BJP has announced the name of Minister Shobha Karandlaje from Bangalore North Constituency. Met him two days ago and touched his feet and took blessings.

Former chief minister and Bengaluru North MP DV Sadananda Gowda on Monday hinted at quitting the BJP, confirming that he has received feelers from the Congress.

Gowda plans to hold a press conference on Tuesday to explain his next move. “Ups and downs and embarrassments are common in politics. But sacrificing someone for selfishness hurts. There is no such thing as a divisive party in the Karnataka BJP. Gowda said on his 71st birthday celebrations that I am hurt by this.

There is speculation that Gowda may contest on a Congress ticket. “I do not deny that I am being approached. Senior leaders of my party are also talking to me last night, an important functionary of my party met me and tried to pacify me. Various things are going on,” he said. Gowda had announced his retirement from electoral politics in November last year.

Gowda said Bengaluru North is the only Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka that has given 100% results to the BJP. “It is the faith shown in me by the citizens. Even Radha Mohan Das Agarwal (Karnataka election in-charge) said I did magic.

Congress was looking forward to a united face in Mysore. Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president DK Shivakumar and other leaders are said to be in touch with Gowda.
