Karnataka: schools and colleges holiday on July 7 due to heavy rains

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that there will be 4 more days of heavy rainfall in Karnataka. It will rain in some parts including Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Shimoga, Chikkamagaluru. Karnataka: schools and colleges holiday on July 7 due to heavy rains. Red alert has been issued in Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi districts.

As a red alert is issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) for the district, Dakshina Kannada (DK) deputy commissioner (DC) Dr K V Rajendra and Udupi DC Kurma Rao M declared a holiday on Thursday July 7 for all school and colleges. It may be recalled, a holiday was declared on July 5 and 6 also as heavy rains lashed the twin districts. All the private and government schools, colleges and degree colleges will remain close on July 7.

Chikkmagalur District: According to Deputy Director of Public Education, due to heavy rainfall in Chikkamagaluru District, educational institutions (primary and higher education institutions) in Balur Hobli, Kalasa Taluk and Sringeri of Mudigere Taluk have been declared holiday from 06-07-2022 to 09-07-2022.

A holiday has been declared for schools under Chikkamagalur Taluk except Amble and Lakka Hobli. He informed that holidays have been announced for schools under Mudigere, Koppa, Sringeri, Kalasa and NR Pura taluks.

Uttara Kannada District: Due to heavy rainfall in Uttara Kannada district, holiday has been announced for the schools and colleges of the district on June 7.

Shivamogga District holiday: Due to heavy rainfall alert in Shivamogga district for the last two days, people are not coming out of their homes in many taluks of the district. It is against this backdrop that holidays have been announced for schools in Tirthahalli, Sagar and Hosanagar taluks of Shivamogga district.
