CM post race, water crisis ignored: hd kumaraswamy slams Congress in Kolar

Kolar : Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy launched a sharp attack on the ruling Indian National Congress government in Karnataka, alleging that internal power struggles have taken precedence over public welfare. Speaking to reporters in Malur town of Kolar district, Kumaraswamy claimed that nearly 40 to 50 Congress MLAs are preparing to travel to New Delhi in pursuit of the मुख्यमंत्री post.

He criticised the state leadership for allegedly neglecting pressing issues such as drinking water scarcity and the impact of rising temperatures across the state. “At a time when people are struggling for basic necessities like water, leaders are busy lobbying for power,” he remarked.

Referring to recent statements made by senior Congress MLA B. R. Patil, Kumaraswamy said the remarks exposed the “ground reality” within the government. “B.R. Patil himself has said that there is not even one rupee available to address drinking water problems and that PDOs are not available. This shows the condition of the Congress administration,” he alleged.

The Union Minister also highlighted the distress faced by farmers in the region, claiming that unseasonal rains have severely damaged crops such as grapes, bananas and mangoes. Despite these losses, he alleged that no elected representative has approached the Chief Minister seeking relief for affected farmers.

“Farmers are suffering due to crop losses, but instead of raising these issues, leaders are focusing on सत्ता politics. This is highly unfortunate,” Kumaraswamy said.

He further accused public representatives of ignoring the hardships of citizens and prioritising political ambitions. “People elected them to solve their problems, not to run behind positions of power. Unfortunately, governance has taken a backseat,” he added.

The remarks come amid ongoing political chatter within the Karnataka Congress over leadership dynamics, though party leaders have largely dismissed such claims in the past. Meanwhile, Kumaraswamy’s comments are expected to intensify the political debate in the state, especially as concerns over water scarcity and farmer distress continue to mount in several districts.
