Youth Congress workers stage semi-nude protest at AI summit in Delhi, security under scrutiny

New Delhi: A group of Youth Congress workers created a dramatic scene at the ongoing India AI Impact 2026 Summit at Bharat Mandapam after entering the venue and staging a semi-nude protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The three-day summit, being held from February 19 to 21, witnessed disruption when around 10 Youth Congress activists reportedly removed their shirts and shouted slogans against the Prime Minister inside the convention complex. The protesters alleged that the government was compromising national interests through the India–US agreements linked to emerging technology and artificial intelligence cooperation.
Eyewitnesses said the sudden protest caused commotion at the high-profile summit, which is attended by policymakers, industry leaders and technology experts. Several members of the public present at the venue objected to the demonstration and physically pushed the protesters out of the premises. Videos circulating on social media show the activists being chased and forced out amid chaos.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage and raised serious concerns about security arrangements at the international event. Reports indicate that the protesters managed to gain entry using QR-coded passes, prompting questions about how the credentials were obtained and verified.
Delhi Police have confirmed that several individuals were detained in connection with the incident. A case has been registered at the Tilak Marg Police Station, and further investigation is underway. Officials are examining the security protocols followed at the venue and reviewing CCTV footage to determine whether there was any lapse in access control.
Political reactions poured in following the protest, with critics terming the act “irresponsible” and “embarrassing” at a global technology summit. Supporters of the ruling party alleged that the protest was a deliberate attempt to disrupt an event showcasing India’s advancements in artificial intelligence.
Organisers of the India AI Impact 2026 Summit have not issued a detailed statement but indicated that proceedings resumed shortly after the disruption. Enhanced security checks are expected for the remainder of the summit.
The episode has not only triggered political controversy but also highlighted the challenges of ensuring foolproof security at large-scale international gatherings in the national capital.
