Udupi gears up for PM Modi’s historic visit amid tight security
Udupi: The coastal city of Udupi is all set to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 28, with elaborate arrangements made at the historic Shri Krishna Mata for his visit. The city is abuzz with activity as authorities and local devotees prepare to receive the Prime Minister with a grand ceremonial welcome.
According to Udupi District Police Superintendent Hariram Shankar, Prime Minister Modi will arrive at the Mata at 12 noon. He will first offer floral tributes to the saint Kanakadasa and then unveil the golden shield adorning Kanaka’s niche along with the Suvarna Teertha Mantapa. “The city is fully prepared for the Prime Minister’s visit. A road show from Adi Udupi to Krishna Mata has been arranged, during which he will have darshan of Shri Krishna and the golden padukas,” he added.
Sources from the Mata stated, “After visiting the Sarvajna Peetha and the Goshala, he will proceed to the Geeta Mandir for a light refreshment. Later, at the assembly program, he will participate in the Laksha Kantha Geeta event and recite the concluding verses of the 18th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita.”
Security arrangements are extensive. Over 3,000 police personnel have been deployed across Udupi city to ensure a safe visit. Two layers of barricades have been erected: one for police security and another for public access. “SPG teams are leading the security, assisted by local police and supervised by ADGP Jitendra Kumar, IG Sandeep Patil, and IG Chandragupta,” Shankar said.
The city has been decorated with saffron buntings and flags, with barricades installed along the road show route from Bannanji to Kalsanka. Residents have flocked to the streets in anticipation, eager to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister. The meticulous planning underscores the importance of the visit, marking PM Modi’s first official trip to Shri Krishna Mata as Prime Minister.
Authorities have urged residents and visitors to cooperate with police personnel, follow instructions, and maintain order during the road show and events at the Mata. The visit is expected to be a historic occasion, blending tradition with administrative precision, reflecting Udupi’s cultural heritage and organizational readiness.
With every aspect of the visit meticulously arranged, Udupi prepares to host one of the most significant political and spiritual events of the year, highlighting the city’s devotion as well as the state’s capability to manage large-scale dignitary visits efficiently.
