Tejashwi Yadav reportedly clashes with sister Rohini Acharya after Bihar election defeat
Patna: Following the National Janata Dal (RJD) party’s disappointing performance in the Bihar assembly elections, party leader Tejashwi Yadav reportedly had a heated confrontation with his sister, Rohini Acharya, sources told NDTV on Sunday.
The alleged incident took place on Saturday afternoon. According to sources, Tejashwi, who had contested as the opposition’s chief ministerial candidate, blamed Rohini for the party’s electoral loss.
During the argument, Tejashwi allegedly told his sister, “Tumhare karan hum chunav haar gaye. Tumhara haay lag gaya hum logo ko,” implying that her actions led to the party’s defeat. Reports suggest he also hurled a slipper at her in anger.
Rohini Acharya, one of the nine children of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, responded by announcing her decision to step away from politics and the family, citing irreconcilable differences. She took to social media to post cryptic messages, indicating that she felt alienated by the family and the party leadership.
According to sources, senior RJD leader Sanjay Yadav and Tejashwi’s long-time aide Rameez Nemat Khan had advised Rohini on handling internal party tensions. Rohini, however, stated that she did not want to bear the burden of the party’s poor electoral performance and alleged that she was forced out of the family by Tejashwi and others.
In her posts, Rohini claimed she faced verbal abuse and humiliation, including being insulted and attacked with a slipper. She described herself as having been treated unjustly despite personal sacrifices, including donating her kidney to Lalu Prasad Yadav.
She expressed disappointment over being alienated from her mother and accused certain family members of prioritizing political ambitions over family ties.
Rohini’s statements have sparked widespread discussion on social media, highlighting internal rifts within the RJD and the Yadav family. Analysts say the conflict underscores the challenges faced by political dynasties when personal grievances intersect with electoral pressures.
RJD leaders have not officially commented on the reported clash, but sources suggest the party is closely monitoring the situation to prevent further public fallout ahead of upcoming political activities in Bihar.
The episode reflects the intense political and familial pressures surrounding the party after its recent electoral setbacks, with personal disagreements now spilling into public discourse.
